Before “company purpose” was common, we identified our WHY – which is to create and provide a diversity of opportunities for all. Our WHY drives us to challenge the status quo and break down barriers. It guides our work and how we engage with our employees, clients, partners, and the community.

WHAT’S NEW WITH JOSTIN?
Each Fall, the Spirit of Construction Foundation hosts an event that celebrates the “noble industry” and honors a number of individuals, including scholarship winners, posthumous honorees, and Lifetime Career Achievement Honorees.
This year, Albert Smitherman (Founder and CEO of Jostin) was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes individuals for their lifetime contributions to the construction industry and to the civic, aesthetic, and economic wellbeing of the Greater Cincinnati Region.
“The greatest thing about this career is helping change peoples’ lives, including Liza’s and my own. In our career, to be able to understand what we have been blessed with, to be able to work for ourselves, come to work every single day and know that we’re working for ourselves with a great group of people, it’s just been wonderful.”

Albert C. Smitherman founded Jostin in 1998 with a passion for construction and a steadfast commitment to dismantling barriers and creating opportunities. While board rooms and conference rooms are his daily domain, his favorite “office” remains a metal deck concrete pour at 3 AM, where a double trowel doubles as his unconventional chair.
A man of purpose and vision, Albert serves as a trustee for The Christ Hospital Foundation, Bethany House Services, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and on the Episcopal Retirement Services board. His commitment to service extends beyond corporate walls, reflecting his dedication to community well-being.
Albert’s accolades include the esteemed Spirit of Construction Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his profound impact on the Greater Cincinnati Region. His visionary leadership has steered Jostin through transformative projects, from the Horseshoe Casino to the Redevelopment of the Banks Riverfront Entertainment Development and the iconic TQL Stadium.
