Before “company purpose” was common, we identified our WHY – which is to create and provide a diversity of opportunities for all. Our WHY drives us to challenge the status quo and break down barriers. It guides our work and how we engage with our employees, clients, partners, and the community.
THE JOSTIN STORY
Albert C. Smitherman founded Jostin Construction in 1998 to create opportunities for others in an industry he loves. He continues to lead the way forward every day and has created a company where it is safe to discuss, debate, and learn. We have seasoned industry veterans, interns still learning the ropes, and a leadership team that includes women who started at Jostin with minimal construction experience (unique for our industry). We are stronger for the varied perspectives that come together to drive growth for individuals, the company, and the community.

WE KNOW THAT DIVERSITY WINS
Jostin is a place where people may come for a job, but can find a long-term career. We welcome individuals of all backgrounds to learn a trade that they can keep for life. We also have individuals with deep industry expertise that want to challenge themselves in a growing company. Our employees have the opportunity to learn and grow, while helping build the region one project at a time.
20+ YEARS OF EXCELLENCE
Jostin works with people and organizations who share our values and ambition to drive growth and progress in our region. For over 20 years, we have built genuine relationships with clients, partners, employees, and community organizations such as Bethany House Services, The Christ Hospital Foundation, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, the YWCA, and JDRF.
WHAT’S NEW WITH JOSTIN?
Each Fall, the Spirit of Construction Foundation hosts an event that celebrates the “noble industry” and honors a number of individuals, including scholarship winners, posthumous honorees, and Lifetime Career Achievement Honorees.
This year, Albert Smitherman (Founder and CEO of Jostin) was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes individuals for their lifetime contributions to the construction industry and to the civic, aesthetic, and economic wellbeing of the Greater Cincinnati Region.
“The greatest thing about this career is helping change peoples’ lives, including Liza’s and my own. In our career, to be able to understand what we have been blessed with, to be able to work for ourselves, come to work every single day and know that we’re working for ourselves with a great group of people, it’s just been wonderful.”
– Albert C. Smitherman, CEO at Jostin Construction
Congratulations and #MuchLove to our CEO, Albert C. Smitherman for well-earned recognition of the legacy you are building and leading every day.
ALL IN. ALL THE TIME.
