SUMMARY
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager is responsible for carrying out Jostin’s strategic plan through overseeing operations, developing functional roles, and assigning responsibilities. The General Manager will manage the Field Operations Manager, project managers, and project engineers, role modeling a safety culture, ensuring quality and production, managing on-the-job training, and nurturing solid customer relationships. The General Manager will collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer, and broadly, with subcontractors and other operations stakeholders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and analyze budgets incorporating job costs
- Manage overall division profit and loss
- Simultaneously handle multiple priorities, duties, projects, and deadlines
- Perform root cause analysis, prepare and implement action plans, and lead improvement initiative
- Build strategic partnerships, lead safety excellence, demonstrate the Jostin “WHY” and lead service excellence
- Communicate with high impact, and effectively influence others
- Lead teams, delegate, empower, coach, and drive innovation and change
- Supervise and coordinate activities of project managers to facilitate and expedite the project schedule
SKILLS
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client services. This includes client needs assessments, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of client satisfaction
- Knowledge of construction industry practices, materials, methods, and tools involved in construction
- Self-directed manager with the ability to manage multiple construction sites for long periods of time and adapt to change
- Knowledge of high standards resulting in good work quality and effective production rates
- Ability to identify, lead, motivate, direct, and develop people as they work, identifying the strengths of each person and placing her/him in a position to perform at her/his best
- The skill to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring job site performance
- The ability to work collaboratively with others maintaining a positive working relationship with subcontractors, vendors, and Jostin team members
- The ability to manage conflict and problem-solve complex issues
- Proven ability to grow a business or division through a focus on operating excellence and cost control
- Consistently demonstrating high ethical standards with a “lead by example” attitude
- Strong strategic decision making, leadership, execution, and communication skills
- Understanding of project accounting and controls
- Solid understanding of risk assessment and mitigation
EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- 10 years of relevant construction experience
- 3+ years of building, leading, and managing construction teams
