SUMMARY
Jostin Finishers possess the solid skills of the Laborer classification. The person in this position needs to have the ability to be flexible as this position may perform various functions throughout a shift. This position reports to the site Superintendent. The person in this position will need to be comfortable working in a public setting and be willing to commute within a 125-mile radius of Cincinnati. Jostin requires all employees to work collaboratively as a team with other Jostin employees and trade partners.
Jostin is currently hiring for all three levels (1,2, &3) of Concrete Finishers. Please see the preferred knowledge, skills, and qualifications for each level below.
CONCRETE FINISHER 1
A Concrete Finisher 1 should have approximately 400-500 hours running edges and meet the requirements of a Concrete Laborer. This person should also have the knowledge and skills listed below.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of commercial concrete pump place finish
- Knowledge of power tools
- Knowledge of hand float tool
- Knowledge of claw hammer and margin trowel
- Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices on a construction site
Skills:
- Bull and fresno – must be able to go long periods of time
- Must be able to screed for a long period of time
- Know when to begin edging
- Must know how to use a hand float
- Knowledge of how to use a hand rod
CONCRETE FINISHER 2
A Concrete Finisher 2 should have approximately 300-400 hours operating a trowel walk behind (consistently keeping concrete on grade using the Magic Screed), and meet the requirements of a Concrete Finisher 1. This person must also have the additional skills listed below.
Additional Skills:
- Must know how to broom concrete
- Set wet grades
- Installation of joints
CONCRETE FINISHER 3
A Concrete Finisher 3 is the senior-level position in the Finisher classification. A Concrete Finisher 3 should have approximately 400-500 hours operating a walk behind, and meet the requirements of a Concrete Finisher 2. This person must also have the additional skills listed below:
Additional Skills:
- Scrape slab
- Operate walk behind
- Operate a pan machine
- Operate a seal/burn machine
- Set up/operate a laser level
- Operate a saw cut
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL CONCRETE FINISHERS:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Successfully pass a drug screen and motor vehicle review
- Introductory training operating Jostin trowel machines
- Ability and desire to listen, learn, and take instruction from others
- Be a team player along with self-directed ability to work independently
- Highly self-motivated with a strong desire for challenging work, growth, and development
- Work irregular hours including weekends when necessary
- Arrive to work on time (Allow time for parking, gathering PPE, etc.)
- Work in various weather conditions for long periods of time
- The ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath
- The ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing
- Willingness to commute within a 125-mile radius of Cincinnati
- COVID vaccinations may be required on some job sites
