Laborers

View Description

Level 1:

Summary of Duties:

The Laborer 1 position is an entry level position which graduates to more skilled level ability. The successful Laborer 1 will master the following:

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of commercial concrete pump place finish.
  • Knowledge of power tools
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices on a construction site.

SKILLS:

The skill to clean, stack, oil, and remove wall panels – When panels are to be cleaned, all concrete is to be removed as best as possible, all of the holes must be cleaned out, the panels must be stacked in a neat and orderly fashion, when oiling the panels, all sides and facing must be thoroughly oiled in a fine mist, when removing the panels, the face must be taken care of.

  • The skill to crumb footers – Must be proper depth, width, and clean.
  • The skill to knock concrete down to grade (having an “eye” for grade).
  • The skill to pull wire – Pull wire to the upper third part of the freshly poured concrete’s elevation.
  • The skill to cure (fine mist and sprayed on a consistent manner)

ABILITIES:

  • The ability to lay wire, insulation and plastic – Wire must have 1 square overlap; plastic must have 2 foot overlap.
  • The ability to clean company tools each day and place in proper location.
  • The ability to clean concrete pump pipe and clamps.
  • The ability to wreck forms and light demolition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screening and motor vehicle review.

Summary of Duties:

The Laborer 2 position has mastered the essential functions of the Laborer 1 position and demonstrates an intermediate knowledge of Laborer 2 work.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of commercial concrete pump place finish.
  • Knowledge of power tools.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices on a construction site.
  • Knowledge of traffic control and truck hand signs.

SKILLS:

  • The skill to tie and place steel – Must be straight, and have the proper spacing between the rebar, they must be secure. Must be three inches away from all soil when in footer.
  • The skill to operate a compactor – Must establish an eye for grade and be able to perform all laboring acts at this level.
  • The skill to hang tar paper and expansion – Set to grade and secured.
  • The skill to pull wire – Pull wire to the upper third part of the freshly poured concrete’s elevation.
  • The skill to cure (fine mist and sprayed on a consistent manner)

ABILITIES:

  • The ability to pour walls – Must be at proper elevation, rebar must not touch the wall panels, must be flat, proper rebar, smooth sides 
  • The ability to pour footers – Concrete must be dispersed in proper locations, have proper rebar, concrete must be on grade.
  • The ability to check rough and fine grades – Must have knowledge of the granular fills; must hold laser receiver plumb.
  • The ability to prep machines for pour – includes cleaning check/change blades, oiling and greasing.
  • The ability to place concrete – Placing concrete from truck.
  • The ability to operate vibrator – Must be able to operate vibrator according to specified standards.  Be cautious not to over-vibrate, must be consistent, removing any honeycombs.
  • The ability to insert footing dowels – Must be straight, in proper locations, proper width apart.
  • The ability to rake behind screeders – Rake consistently, fill holes and remove high areas ahead of the rail.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient as a Laborer 1
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screening and motor vehicle review.
  • The ability to work irregular hours including weekends when necessary.

The Laborer 3 holds the senior role in this classification. This individual is in position to assume the Level One Finisher role in the Finisher job classification.

  • Knowledge of traffic control and truck hand signs.

  • The skill to influence others and make decisions in the best interest of JOSTIN.

ABILITIES:

  • The ability to layout footer and wall steel- Must be straight, and have the proper spacing between the rebar; must be secure. 
  • The ability to install waler brackets – Must be installed at proper height and in proper locations, 2 x 4’s should be set at a four foot offset in the walers.
  • The ability to operate skid steer – Must have completed the Skid steer Loader Training Course. The operator must be both safe and productive.
  • The ability to prep machines for pour – includes cleaning check/change blades, oiling and greasing.
  • The ability to float walls and footers – All voids filled, imperfections removed, humps removed, must be level.
  • The ability to Install turnbuckles – Must be installed securely and in proper locations.
  • The ability to Trowel Walls – Must be slick, on grade, imperfections removed, held at proper pitch, humps removed, voids filled.
  • The ability to assume the team lead position managing a labor crew.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient as a Laborer 1 and 2
  • Have a certified Rigger Certificate 
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Knowledge of general trade work.

SKILLS:

  • The skills to properly align walls.

ABILITIES:

  • The ability to install waler brackets – Must be installed at proper height and in proper locations, 2 x 4’s should be set at a four foot offset in the walers .
  • The ability to install turnbuckles – Must be installed securely and in proper locations.
  • The ability to establish grade – operate a laser and site level.
  • The ability to set bulk heads – Must have proper support, be in proper locations, be straight, and have proper elevation.

  • The ability to read blue prints – The employee must have completed the company’s blue print reading class.
  • The ability to complete pre-layout of footers – Must have the ability to read and interpret blue prints and lay-out various types of footings.
  • The ability to place anchor bolts – Begin placing anchor bolts in their proper locations sited in by a higher skill level employee.
  • The ability to set bulk heads – Must have proper support, be in proper locations, be straight, and have proper elevation.

Jostin Finishers possesses the solid skills of the laborer classification. The Finisher 1 is the entry level position in the Finisher classification responsible for the following.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of power tools.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices on a construction site.
  • Knowledge of general trade work.

SKILLS:

The skills to use a bull float- Must be stable and able to go long period of time, while maintaining good quality. Imperfections in the concrete must be removed, voids filled, and sealed and completely as possible.

  • The skill to use a hand float around clean-outs, drains, conduits, edges, etc.

ABILITIES:

  • The ability to perform a broom finish – Fine texture transverse to the flow of traffic; consistent; straight.
  • The ability to run edges – Must be straight, clean, at proper elevation, and slick.
  • The ability to check rod – Ensuring floor flatness; cut humps and filling holes
  • The ability to saw cut – Must be straight, in proper locations, must reach the edge of the box cuts at proper depth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient as a Laborer 1 and 2 and 400-500 hours running edges.

ABILITIES:

  • The ability to set wet grades – Must be completely flat, and on grade; must be in proper locations and properly marked with an X in the center. Two foot minimum overlap. Wet grade pad to be a two foot minimum in diameter.

  • Daily Laborer check in and dismissal.
  • Assisting superintendent with paperwork and performance analysis of crew members.

  • La habilidad de usar el flotador manual alrededor de rejillas, conductos , drenaje, esquinas, etc.

HABILIDADES:

  • La habilidad de realizar un acabado de cepillo –  Lograr una textura fina alineado con el tráfico de carros, consistente y derecho.

Resumen de deberes:

La posición de Obrero nivel 1 es una  posición de nivel de entrada que se asciende  a la capacidad de nivel más cualificado. El obrero seleccionado 1 dominará lo siguiente:

CONOCIMIENTO:

  • Conocimiento del vaciado y acabado de concreto comercial.
  • Conocimiento de herramientas de poder.
  • Conocimiento de los procedimientos de seguridad y las mejores prácticas en un sitio de construcción.

 ESPECIALIZACION

  • La habilidad para limpiar, apilar, engrasar, y remover paneles de pared – Cuando los paneles deben ser limpiados, todo el concreto debe ser removido lo mejor posible, todos los orificios deben ser limpiados, los paneles deben ser guardados en un lugar limpio y De manera ordenada, cuando se engrasen los paneles, todos los lados y el revestimiento debe ser completamente aceitado en una niebla fina.
  • La habilidad de escavar fundaciones – Debe tener la profundidad, ancho y limpieza apropiada.
  • La habilidad de demoler concreto hasta la elevación deseada (tener un “ojo” para el nivelado).
  • La habilidad de halar los alambres de la malla – Halar los alambres de la malla hasta la tercera parte superior de la elevación alta del concreto recién vaciado.
  • La habilidad de curar el concreto (Una capa fina y rociado de manera consistente)

 

HABILIDADES:

  • La habilidad de colocar la malla, insulación y plastico – La malla debe tener 1 cuadra solapada, plástico debe tener 2 cuadra solapada.
  • La habilidad de limpiar las herramientas de la empresa todos los días y guardarlas en el lugar adecuado.
  • La habilidad de limpiar las tuberías y conexiones de la bomba de concreto.
  • La habilidad de remover el encofrado y demolición liviana.

 

DEBERES DEL TRABAJO:

  • Llegar al trabajo a tiempo, descargar los camiones y completar actividades como sean asignadas.
  • Responsable de conectar las tuberías de la bomba de concreto diariamente.
  • Ayudar con el vaciado del concreto.
  • Responsable de limpiar diariamente las herramientas, incluyendo el ayudar a limpiar la bomba de concreto.
  • Responsable de completar las actividades diarias de trabajo como sean asignadas.

 

REQUERIMIENTOS:

  • Licencia de conducir valida.
  • La habilidad de pasar un examen médico de drogas y un chequeo de historia de manejo.
  • La habilidad de trabajar horas irregulares y fines de semana.
  • La habilidad de trabajar en condiciones ambientales duras por periodos largos de tiempo.
  • La habilidad de realizar duros trabajos físicos por largos periodos de tiempo sin sentirse sin aliento o sin aire.
  • La habilidad de usar los músculos abdominales para soportar partes del cuerpo repetidamente o continuamente sin agotarse o acabarse.
  • Capaz de manejar entre un radio de 200 millas.
