Jostin Construction is under the leadership of Albert C. Smitherman, a veteran in the construction industry. Albert has built a team of outstanding associates committed to the success of the projects they are contracted to perform.
Albert C. Smitherman - President and Chief Executive Officer
Albert began his career in construction after graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1985 with a B.S. in Construction Management. Working across the country for 12 years in the concrete construction arena, Albert managed multi-million dollar industrial and commercial construction projects, which included automobile facilities, steel mills, and industrial warehouses.
In 1998, Albert started Jostin Concrete Construction providing self-performed concrete construction to construction managers, general contractors, developers and owners across the United States. Now as Jostin Construction, Albert directs and coordinates all activities within Jostin to achieve profit and return on capital.
Albert is active in his community and continually strives to give back. He volunteers his time to community and social service organizations like People Working Cooperatively, Ronald McDonald House and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He mentors aspiring individuals and entrepreneurs who are interested in starting their own small businesses. Albert is also a board member for Green Recycling Works, a service of City Gospel Mission, is a member of the Cincinnati Rotary Club and a Leadership Cincinnati Alumnus.
Liza D. Smitherman - Chief People Officer
Liza began her career with Jostin in 1998 in partnership with her husband in their first generation, family-owned business. She is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Education and a M. Ed. in Counseling from Xavier University. Initially providing basic accounting and financial support to the company, Liza shifted her attention to offering knowledgeable leadership in the planning and directing of programs for all human resource areas within the company.
She also facilitates the development of policies and programs to meet Jostin's organizational needs. In 2005, Liza took a primary role in the start-up of Brewster Pumping, LLC, a subsidiary of Jostin Construction. Brewster Pumping performs concrete pumping services for Jostin Construction as well as other clients within its regional market. Liza is active in community organizations, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees for Easter Seals Tristate, City Gospel Mission, and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. She is also a member of the Partners for a Competitive Workforce Construction Pathways Partnership Team as the employer chair.
Whitney Eckert - VP of Finance
Whitney joined Jostin in 2001 as the company's Controller. She graduated from Wittenberg University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a MBA from Xavier University. Initially as the Controller for Jostin, Whitney was responsible for managing, reporting and analyzing all financial information for the company.
In her current role, Whitney provides expertise in assessing organizational performance against the company's annual budget and long term strategies. Whitney currently serves on the board for the Stepping Stones Center, as well as the Construction Financial Management Association.
Mike Vieth - VP of Operations
Mike began his career with Jostin Construction in 2000 as a Project Engineer. Having graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Construction Management, Mike also served as a Field Superintendent, Estimator, and Project Manager on projects such as Mercy West Hospital, Horseshoe Casino, and Washington Park Parking Garage.
Currently as Jostin's Director of Operations, Mike oversees the management of all aspects of Jostin projects, which includes customer relations, quality control, cost effectiveness, and efficiency. He also supports efforts that promote employee growth and development. Mike is a member of American Subcontractors Association.
Mike Mattis - Chief Estimator
Mike joined Jostin Construction in 2001 as an Estimating Assistant. He graduated from Cincinnati State Community College with a degree in Construction Management and used his knowledge to provide cost estimating on projects such as the Xavier Conaton Learning Commons and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
More recently in his role as Chief Estimator, Mike successfully secured projects at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Med Pace Parking Garage, and several Cincinnati Public School buildings. Mike has also managed a number of projects including the Queen City Tower general trades package, CPS House Bill 264, and The Vernon Manor. Mike is a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators.
